Coffee Sock History


This Coffee Sock History page is an evolving process as we at the Coffee Sock Company discover more and more about the origins of the Coffee Sock.  What we do know for sure is that the Coffee Sock makes good, really good coffee! Many countries claim to be the origin of the Coffee Sock.   Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia….but Costa Rica seems to be the place where it is most widely used.

Coffee Sock the Costa Rican Way – Sock and Stand

It is said this is the most common way for making a great brew in Costa Rica.  The ground beans are put in the sock and pour boiling water through.  The stand is made out of wood or wire and houses the sock.

Within Costa Rica making coffee this was is known as “Café Chorreado”.
